Staying On Track For Summer
We are a week away from daylight savings time (FINALLY) and you know what that means! Summer is rapidly approaching. Practicing good diet and workout habits now can be crucial as we all know that staying on track with your health and fitness goals can be a challenge during these glorious summer months. Vacations derail workout momentum, after-work drinks all around, and BBQs with family and friends..the list goes on and on!
Healthy Eats
Start making light, healthy meals with a lot of veg! When it's cold and gloomy, we find ourselves eating heavy, warm meals to fill out bellies, I'm guilty of this myself! Replace the beef-stew with a fresh, summery udon stir-fry! Udon noodles are low in fat and cholesterol and consist of the specific complex of carbohydrates that are more slowly digested comparing to simple carbohydrates. Studies show that these type of carbs contributes to weight loss. Udon noodles are also light and well absorbed by the body! Delish!
Bye-Bye Cardio!
If you live in an area like me where summers are almost unbearable, it can be hard to get excited about sweating buckets when you are sweating just walking from your front door to your car in the driveway. Working out outside can also be super dangerous when temperatures reach 90's or above. I suggest opting out of intense workouts and switching to a yoga or barre class!
Bring Workout Gear on Vacay
Who wants to workout on vacation. I mean, you're supposed to be on relax mode, right? Wrong. Many of us fall out of pattern when we go on vacation and a lot of the time we struggle getting back into go-mode once we return home. If you bring your cute workout outfits with you, this will help motivate you and keep you on track while on vacay! Hit the hotel gym for 30 minutes before you make your way to the resorts pool. You'll be happy you do!
Stay Hydrated
We all know we need to drink 4-6 cups of water a day to stay healthy, but this is especially important during those hot months because we are more susceptible to loosing fluids throughout the day. We can easily get dehydrated, we're sweating way too much but I also find this helps curb my appetite. When I'm craving something sweet and don't want to reach for the nearest box of Charleston Chews, I grab a cup of iced tea instead. It satisfies my cravings and is way healthier than eating an entire box in one sitting.
