Serving Up Summer: Pineapple Sweet Tea
·
·
Summer is officially upon us and what better way to cool off than enjoying a nice tall glass of iced tea? This a summer favorite in our house and a sure way to freshen up on any hot afternoon you're having!
Ingredients:
9 cups water - divided
1 cup sugar
8 regular-size black tea bags
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups pineapple juice
1 cup sugar
8 regular-size black tea bags
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups pineapple juice
First, prepare your simple syrup. To make a simple syrup, heat 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to boil and stir until sugar dissolves and forms the simple syrup. Remove from heat, allow to cool, pour into a container. Store in refrigerator while making tea.
Next, in a large saucepan, bring 1 quart (4 cups) of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add tea bags (tie strings together for easy removal later) and baking soda. Allow tea to steep for 8-10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and stir in the simple syrup. Last, pour tea in a large pitcher and add in remaining water and pineapple juice (you can even make your own juice instead of store bought. Whatever works for you!)
If you want, you can definitely add alcohol to this sweet tea. I just prefer cocktails as I don't drink! Let me know if you try this! I love to hear from you all!
