Fun Ways To Celebrate Valentine's Day From Home 2022
There’s no rule that you must leave your house to have a good time on Valentine's or Galentine's Day. In fact, your day might be even better if you never step foot outside. Think about it: no traffic to deal with, no weather to worry about, no crowded restaurants who insist you never made a reservation even though you’re positive you did. Sounds dreamy, right?
Turn your V-Day anxiety into a thing of the past with these at-home Valentine’s Day ideas. These plans are perfect for anyone partnered, riding solo, or hosting a Galentine’s Day celebration (just don’t forget to invite me ). Let’s get planning!
BAKING
One of my favorite things to do with the with family and friends is bake. It’s always a HIT! Last year, I made mini shortbread cookies and cupcakes. Growing up, Valentine's Day was always a special holiday in our home and I think keeping these traditions are really fun and they are great to share with your best girlfriends for a Galentine's Day brunch or just with the family. I also really love making heart-shaped waffles the morning of with this waffle maker! It’s inexpensive and starts the day off with a sweet treat. Valentine’s Day usually has a ton of cute baking accessories to choose from I rounded up some of the best stuff I saw below and how cute are these heart aprons?
DCI Bamboo Heart Shaped Spoon 2 Pack - $20.99
Bamboo Serving Board - $45
Heart Mini Muffin Pan - $12
BLIND ROSÉ TASTING
Galentine's Day is the perfect excuse to try some new vinos and you could do this with any type - but I think rosé is perfect for the occasion. Grab a few bottles or ask your friends to bring a couple if you’re celebrating then do a blind taste test!
SWEETS BOARD
To switch things up, I love making a sweets board instead of a cheese board. I recommend focusing on color and texture to make it look sweet and delectable. For mine, I tried to break up the blocks of pink and red with white and black, as well as scatter a few smaller items like candies and fruits over the finished board to make it feel more organic.
Let me know if you decide to create a Valentine’s sweet board this month! You can tag me @thewithlovefromalex on Instagram to show off your culinary masterpieces.
GIVE BACK
Obviously a lot of in person volunteering stuff can’t be done this year in some parts of the country but there are a couple local organizations that let kids write valentines/sweet notes to nursing homes or to drop off items for kids in need. Or think about doing a basket of sweets and cards for the delivery people the week of Valentine’s Day. I think another great way to pass it on is buying the person’s drink behind you in the drive thru, it's such a nice and unexpected act of kindness that sets the tone of the day.
MOVIE AND DESERT COMBO
Keep it low-key and stress-free by transforming your home into a luxury movie theater. Start by making a blanket fort in the middle of your living room using every pillow in your house. Next, prepare some top-tier snacks. Popcorn and candy are classics, but what about our fun sweet board or some festive cupcakes or my personal favorite tiramisu!
Bond through something scary or laugh your way into love with a comedy. Whatever you choose, make sure your date approves (they might have seen it already—disaster!). If you’re planning a Galentine’s Day bash, good luck on getting everyone to agree on something.
The best part of creating your own movie theater experience is being able to set your own dress code. Make it a pajama night, or even a theme night! Super fun!
GAME NIGHT
Valentine’s Day at home doesn’t have to be romantic, relaxing, or even quiet. Invite the chaos by hosting a game night. If they’re a big Queen’s Gambit fan, try winning them over with a game of chess. Dating more of a wordsmith? Scrabble’s still cool. If you’re interested in something more tactile, giant Jenga is extremely fun!
Game night is a great group activity idea, unless you’re friends with a lot of cheaters. In that case, y’all should do the movie night (see: above). But for everyone else, games are a very fun and memorable way to spend the holiday!
Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's // Galentine's Day!
